Welcome to botaniculture.org! This project documents our explorations of plant-based knowledge andpractices in today's world. We strongly believe that the relationship between humans and plants is both primaryand complex, and that people in all walks of life can benefit greatly from the exploration of this relationship.
Human interaction with plants turns up in virtually every aspect of life. Whether we deal with plants in the context of food, clothing, shelter, medicine, gardening, spiritual practice, or innumerable other possibilities, we encounter a wide variety of human-plant relationships on a daily basis.
In order to provide some navigable structure for the information we are gathering, this site is modular in nature, a work in progress; new categories are being added as our research develops. The first module, Interviews, profiles individuals who have pursued their ownplant-oriented career paths. Upcoming modules include an in-depth look at the work of a chef experimenting with "food as medicine" and an expanded Resources section for those wishing to learn more about specific subject areas.
The Interviews section arose out of our curiosity about the people who are at the forefront of the current revival of interest in botanical medicine: who are they, how did they get there, and what are they thinking about? We hope that this module will provide some insight into this extremely valuable, yet oft-misunderstood, field. Top |
